SPRING in the LIBRARY

Forest of Reading Update: With the reading portion of the program over, we are now in the middle of the celebrations. We had a voting day breakfast with around 50 readers enjoying pancakes before school. Upcoming (May 18th) is our pizza and make your own sundae lunch where the winners of the program will be announced. Readers are encouraged to come dressed in a costume of their favourite character, item, etc. of any of the books that were on their FOR list. Prizes for the best! All participants will also be recieving their certificate for participating in the program at the lunch as well.
A big THANK YOU to the Literacy Committee for supporting such a large and beneficial program for LKS.

Uma and Spot Update: Our visiting geckos have been successful in their mission -laying eggs. Uma laid 2 on April 27th. Well done, Uma! The eggs are presently in an incubator at 28 degrees celcius. At this temp, the eggs will have a chance of hatching before summer holidays. Uma and Spot will be returning to their Reptilia home in July and I am looking into the program for next year.

End of Year Update: The first week of June will be the last for borrowing any new books for the students. Please make sure that all items borrowed from the library are returned so that we have time to get the shelves in order for the fall.
If you recieve a notice of an overdue book, please know that time has already been spent looking for the book in the library. I return any money paid for lost books if they have been found at a later date (the computer keeps track of that) :) Fines for damaged or lost books are usually $5.00 for ficion/softcover and $10.00 hardcover/non-fiction. New books may be charged more. Thank you for your continued support.

At LKS, there have been more than 13500 books borrowed this year so far!! That is amazing! Keep up the great reading throughout the summer!
