Family Literacy Day at LKS

LKS is celebrating Family Literacy Day on Monday January 26th with Cheryl Thorton, storyteller extraordinaire! She is going to be sharing her favourite multicultural tales with all of the students throughout the day.
Also the Literacy Committee will be handing out tatoos and other reading 'extras' throughout the day.
Some of our teachers are going to enter their class in the quest for breaking a Guiness World Book record - very cool! If you would like more information about Family Literacy Day or about helping to break the world record, check out:

Break into reading, LKS, and exercise your mind!

Forest of Reading at LKS

Welcome to the Forest of Reading at LKS! All students in every grade have the opportunity to participate in this fantastic Canadian literature program. Grade K-3 will be participating in Blue Spruce in the library. Grades 3-8 participation is voluntary and involves taking out a selection of books, reading them and then seeing a staff member at LKS for an 'interview'. Progress is recorded in a 'passport' which is available in the library. Come to the library to find out more.
